Adam’s began life in 2013 as a less-than-glamorous pop-up in a former sandwich shop. The high demand and cult following doubled the production pace and made them move from their original location to a better new location, and they received a Michelin star in the process.

You can easily find Adam’s in a much grander premise if you are cruising through Waterloo Street, where contemporary British dining is the name of the game.

As we know, most Michelin-starred restaurants can often feel pretentious, but Adam’s takes the cake by making sure that diners avoid this and get excited with its refreshing, approachable fine-dining experience.


After a good 13 years, it was time for Carters to leave its home in Moseley. Then, they moved to Westlands in Evesham for a six-month residency. Here, visitors have been able to continue enjoying the restaurant’s farm-to-fork experience.

Around 75 per cent of the ingredients that this restaurant utilises in its dishes comes from the surrounding nurseries.

Chef-owner Brad Carter also re-established his Michelin star for the eighth time and took his gourmet kebab pop-up, One-Star Doner Bar, to King’s Heath institution, the Hare and Hounds.

Carters is all set to move to a permanent home in Birmingham city centre. Also, it is expected to have an imaginative menu with sustainability at its heart. Add this place to your culinary exploration, and give it a shot!

Original Patty Men

Original Patty Men is an old favourite at this point, and it still holds up against the seemingly never-ending competition as a favourite haunt of Birmingham’s burger connoisseurs.

A team of designers launched it, and now they are doing well with two restaurants, one in a Digbeth archway and the other at The British Oak in Stirchley. The best part? The staff is amazing, and they refer to themselves as ‘purveyors of filth’.


Purnell’s is the brainchild of celebrity chef Glynn Purnell. His menus blend British influences with French and East Asian ingredients to create a truly unique dining experience for the visitors.

The Purnell’s menu includes seasonal dishes for visitors. It is popular for featuring Britain’s finest seafood, such as Gigha halibut and Orkney scallops. We know that you are drooling over this. And the cherry on top, you have to make time for the cocktail lounge after eating some good food.

The Wilderness

Eat Vietnam

Ming Nham, the brain behind the effortlessly brilliant Eat Vietnam. Ming came up with an idea and turned his street food pop-up into a bricks-and-mortar restaurant back in 2019. People in Stirchley will tell you that it’s one of the best things to happen to the suburb.

Nham grew up in Vietnam, arrived in Birmingham as a child, and heads up a team of passionate young chefs whose modern take on traditional Vietnamese dishes gives diners the gift of marmite and peanut butter cauliflower and salt and pepper-crusted tofu.

We recommend trying the curries. They are an absolute must, with veggie and meat options mixed with coconut, fresh herbs, and delicate jasmine rice. For those who can’t nab a table at this perpetually booked-up gem, they now offer a click-and-collect service.


There’s little else to be said about Bonehead other than it is Birmingham’s best-fried chicken – hands down.

This effortlessly cool chicken joint can be found near New Street station and attracts fried chicken fans from all over the country to devour its wares. Although its speciality is succulent chicken, its sauces aren’t far behind.

You can think of trying out hot wings, sriracha honey butter burger dressing and blue cheese tater tots.

Sabai Sabai

Sabai Sabai is thriving with quiet composure and a handful of locations across the West Midlands (Birmingham city centre, Moseley, Harborne, Solihull and Stratford-upon-Avon).
